It was one of those Federal papers distorting the story to (a) sell papers and (b) get more sympathy for black soldiers in the anti-black Union States.
LOL LOL...oh please Stephen, like Confederate newspapers didn't distort the story? Like Confederate soldiers were pro-black?..lol.. I will have to do some more reading on this from other sources though, because I quite frankly don't like this...blacks are all good...whites are all bad. Slavery was a disgrace, no doubt. It happen all over the world. To every race and creed and ethnic group. Not just here. While my ancestors believed in the equality of the races. An unusual belief at the time Mr. Whitlock. I am afraid that all this multi-cultural messages we receive today are destroying the country we know. I would hate to think white kids are growing up to hate their race and the traditions and achievements that have made America great. I'll read Mr. Upton's post, though so far, there has been very little that he and I have agreed on, on this board. I will have to admit from scanning ahead in the book, it looks like more credit is given to the black story than not only the rebs but the Union whites. I like to hear the whole story. Do you?
Chase.
