I will reserve comments on the Kennedys. They have not been my favorite people. I believe that JFK's Naval career was more of a political stepping stone than desire to serve his country. Evidence shown that his service in the Pacific was more accident than anything. He was sent to the Canal Zone to keep him out of trouble over an affair with an alledged Nazi agent. The fact that the unit to which he was assigned there was transferred to the Pacific must have been quite a jolt for old Joe Kennedy! Accounts by former members of his PT crew are not very flattering either. I do however believe that Robert Kennedy was genuine in his desire to serve.
