Before going anywhere, this is NOT about the immigration problem. We all have opinions on that bugaboo.
I caught a bit of a discussion on CNN the other day with Rep. Rex Duncan of Oklahoma about the Immigration Bill he is sponsoring and seems to be going pretty well through the maze in the governing body of that state. What I thought interesting was when questioned as to why Oklahoma thought they needed to do something and not the Feds his answer caused me to stop and salute. He said simply that his state had the soveriegn right to do what it believed best for it's citizens. The Feds were inconsistent and dragging their feet.
He specifically used the 'States' right to make its own laws that best suit the voters of said state. I wonder if this will bring back the old debate and if there may be a new slant on it coming in another century and for another cause? Has anyone else heard more on this?
