Hello. Well it is nice to actually meet up with someone who had an ancestor who fought with the 8th Arkansas CSA.
Are you aware that there are two histories in the works about the 8th? There is also a group in Michigan who call themselves the 8th Arkansas because they were such strong fighters so they play the Confederates up in Michigan.
My ancestor Sgt. J. D. Pearce who was wounded at Shiloh, picked up by his brother and taken home to heal in Mifflin, Tenn. He then set out walking to catch up with the 8th after he was well enough to go leaving on the 4th of July. They were up in Kentucy by then and he was in western Tennessee.
However, you need to understand I am of a different mind set than you.
Your words of "if the person chooses to set aside their subjectivity" do not apply to me.
Your kin, your own ggg grandfather who was from the same area as mine, was thrown into that pit and buried in those trenches at Shiloh just like my kin.
No, I do not wish to set aside my subjectivity, but I do appreciate your response.
Linda
