Re: Can an Academic Hold a non-PC view of history?

Jim,

If I may offer an opinion and it is just to be taken as that. No. I believe that would be true regardless which side they favor, North or South. I offer my recent exchanges with Mr. San Wheeler as an example. I am sure he can apply the same example to me, however I am no scholar, nor do I make that claim. I believe we have ran our course, neither one of us has anything let to offer.

Mr. Wheeler in all of our exchanges never once said maybe Lincoln was wrong here maybe he said this there. Mr. Wheeler had an explanation or an excuse for ever instance I pointed out where it was possible that Lincoln was maybe in the wrong. This goes from Lincoln- Douglas speeches, to provoking the war at Fort Sumter to the end of the war. Lincoln never made the first wrong move regardless of the facts or sources I posted. Mr. Wheeler was firm in his opinion from the first exchange to the very last. As a result of his un-bending position, I admit I took the opposite side. I may not have been so firm in my stance if he had given a little. If I recall Jamie even hinted toward this.

Now to Mr. Wheeler, I very much enjoyed our exchanges, no insults facts presented and honest replies, no emotions involved, just the way it should be. I admit you took me to task finding some un-biased reliable information online. It was my pleasure to discuss the issues with you and I look forward to more exchanges in the future.

At this time I would like to extend to you an invitation to visit Jamie's 7th Mississippi website at

Read a little about our families and see some pictures. Hope you like it. Leave Jamie a comment in the guestbook.
