Re: Can an Academic Hold a non-PC view of history?

Craig, I mean no disrespect but if you haven't noticed an anti-Confederate movement in our universities you just simply haven't been reading the news. Consider the following...

At Vanderbilt University they tried to remove the word "Confederate" from Confederate Memorial Hall.

In Texas they want to remove the statues of Confederate heroes from all campuses. Our President, George Bush, was Governor when they removed some plaques at one university that honored our Confederate heritage. I don't know what the current status of the litigation that followed is, but it made the news fairly often.

In Colorado a university asked a young man to remove a flag he was flying in his own dorm room.

Confederate descendants at Ole Miss have been fighting for years to keep their "Colonel Reb" logo and long ago they banned flying Confederate flags. Even my home state LSU has had trouble with this issue.

No rendition of Dixie is to be played at any university... that reminds folks of the Confederacy.

Even at the High School level children are punished for showing pride in who they are. If you want me to, I can provide a list of offenses on this too.

Now, after considering this, can you still say there is no movement in the field of education to erase our heritage? If so I have to say I just don't understand your position to any degree.
