Good question. Professors (just like all Americans) should be aware of various trends in society, and actions on their campus. But, as Sam and I pointed out earlier, professors generally do not take such a pointed or political approach to history. I have not heard of any professor taking Civil War history or the Confederacy out a syllabus or course because of controversy surrounding the CBF.
If, as at Vanderbilt, a building is renamed, how would it affect a history course on that campus?
