"Are you saying that we of this board are promoting myths?"

I was actually saying that many of the popular images of history people on this board complain about are myths embraced by some in the public, but not by historians.

"First of all your questioning the persons knowledge, especially when the person is telling you common knowledge facts that history, especially Civil War history is warped to certain views."

When someone complains of "warped" history, it is important to find out where it is coming from.

"Second when I gave you the examples you began to disagree fault with the examples I gave you."

Which examples did I "disagree fault" with?

"Third you did so under a false pretense that you didn't understand what I was talking about. You didn't understand that there is a history on the EP that promotes it was the main cause for the freedom of THE slave- i.e all the slaves? No modern historian could be that naive about the type of Amercian history about the EP promoted in books, novels, TV, and even political debates. What was your motive?"

I have run across many different perceptions of the Civil War and prefer not to assume too much about someone's point of view until they can better explain it. Often, I find that I thought they were talking about one particular idea or issue only to find that they were actually referring to something else.
