Some of y'all are messing with the Duke's persona! As the reporter said about Jimmy Sewart's character in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (It was really John Wayne.): "When the facts become legend, print the legend." John Wayne always played John Wayne, and we didn't care. We went to see him put himself into whatever movie he was making. That's why, Pam, we didn't mind the script not changing much, as in the Rio Bravo movies. I made a commercial once with the Duke's double. He said he was killed about three times in each one! Oh, and don't forget Sgt. Stryker getting killed in "Sands of Iwo Jima". John Bradley, Navy Hospital Corpsman, and Marine Ira Hayes, two of the flag raisers at Iwo Jima, appeared as extras in that movie. Stan
