I appreciated your E Mail. The veterans mentioned were my grandfathers brothers and cousin. My survey included them and my survey is housed at the Kentucky Historical Society Library, Fulton and Hickman, Kentucky Libraries. Within these surveys is a story of how the Busharts with others freed their comrads in arms from a jail within the Forrest command after the comrads were wrongly accused. They risked hanging but after the matter was completed, all officers, including Forrest, were complimentary to the fourteen that did it and returned to base undetected. I found it very interesting and typical. The survey was written and filed as a sign of respect for my dad. He lost his life early due to high blood pressuer at the age of thirty six. After receiving notice that his case was terminal he returned to St. Louis and hospitals he needed. later, to try and support his family, he began completely new employment and lasted as long as he could stay on his feet for approximately eigteen months. I was twelve when this happened and when he dies and I am now seventy. I looked for a way to thank my dad and decided to show the traits of the Busharts of his family in the Civil War. All of my grandfathers brothers and cousins were within the Forrest command at one time or another, two were in the 5th Tennessee (KIA), one in the 20th Tennessee Cavalry and two in the 10th tennessee Cavalry. Beileve it or not I found that they had cousins in the Union commands, three were KIA and they also had exceptionally good records in major battles of the war. Your E Mail gave descriptions and I have found this hard to aquire. I hope to hear from you again.
