John Sawyers, according to a source I found: "John Sawyers, born circa 1825, a native of Alabama and Maynardville grocery keeper before the war was commissioned in April 1863 as Major of the Eighth Cavalry. After the war he returned to Granger County where he married Thursa Walker"

I am writing short biogaphical sketches on the officers of the Eighth Tennessee Cavalry. How close is this to being accurate? (Found in Papers of Andrew Jackson) Do you have a death date, place of burial? Also, do you have a photo? I am closely studying this regiment for a regimental history.
