Thanks for the details. I would indeed like the information for the whole brigade if it is not too much trouble.

What this shows, to me, is a commanding officer who realized very early on to have competent staff officers to perform the technical aspects of equipping a command for war and that Forrest was smart enough to get these officers into his commands and let them do what their skills trained them to do - all the while making sure that his men were as well equipped as possible.

This only adds further laurels to Nathan Bedford Forrest as an officer and how he lead troops in war despite little education.
