In Response To: Re: Texans with Forrest ()

Dave Harper,
.
Ninety percent of the people mentioned in my book were in the militias of the 34 North Texas counties of the seven Militia Brigade Districts of the North Texas. Yes, many of the names and initials were difficult to read, and that's why I have spent so much energy trying to find these men in a second source.

.
In my Name Index, I have 39,970 entries, but keep in mind that many soldiers are mentioned more than once. Today's edition shows a 196-page Name Index. My 6th, and maybe last, edition will be printed about Christmas 2009.
.
I looked at my originials and both "J.J. Goodloe" and "H.J. Goodloe" are clearly written. True a "W" sometimes is transcribed as an "H" or an "M."
.
Again, your Goodloe brothers are listed in my 180-page Name Index as:
.
****
.
GOODLOE, Hinton James Goodloe, b-1840 MS; m-Mary; 1870 RRiv cen p14; Gould's 23d Cav, Co K (Red Riv Co, TST), A-65
