The soldier writes to the family he has been in service 18 months, and he and James Anderson and another local boy went and had their likenesses taken, and he is sending the pics home so the folks can see what soldiering has done to his appearance. Also, "they were paid off a few days since, so he sends $15.00".
Not sure the state is VA, but does someone know of a possible location? Would this have been a Federal or Confederate camp?
