Active in the Jefferson County Court system from 1863-1868. Died Nov. 23 or 30,1879 at Birmingham. Buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Birmingham."

Only one Alberto :
31. Martin, Alberto, Co. B, 10 Alabama Infantry, Captain/Captain, http://history-sites.com/cgi-in/boards/alcwmb/index.cgi?read=1738[This is my reference to your message.]
********************************************
"MARTIN, Holmes Dent, Captain
10th Alabama Infantry, Co. B [formed in Jefferson Co.]
Resided in Pickens County as a young man."

No Holmes Dent on my list, no H. D., no Holmes, no Dent.

I show the following as having served in Co. B, 10th Alabama Infantry:
31. Martin, Alberto [See above.]
154. Martin, F. M., Co. B, 10 Alabama Infantry, Private/Private
379. Martin, John B., Co. B, 10 Ala. Inf., Private/Private
384. Martin, John C., Co. B, 10 Ala. Inf. , Private/Private
Plus many other MARTINs served in other companies of 10th Alabama Infantry.

"MARTIN, Carswell [Caswell], Colonel
Born 1812-13 in N.C. Living in Pickens Co. by 1850. Regiment unknown. Service may have pre-dated the Civil War. Died in Pickens Co. on 2/17/1877 at age 66."

I find no Carswell or Caswell Martin. Have many C. MARTINs though.
**********************************************
"MARTIN, James, Captain
Regiment unknown. Died June 1889. His obituary was posted in the Pickens Co. newspaper, which said he was “of Mobile”. This may be James K.P. Martin, son of Col. Carswell Martin. James K.P. was born in 1844-1845. However, there is a MARTIN, J.K. listed as a member of the 2nd Ala. Inf., Co. B, as a Private."

I have tons of James MARTINs as you might expect.
I have two James K. P. MARTINs:
270. Martin, James K. P., OFU: Martin, J. K. P., Co. B, 42 Ala. Inf., Private/Private
271. Martin, James K. P., Co. D, 57 Ala. Inf., Private/Private

Two J. K. P. Martins:
334. Martin, J. K. P., Co. F, 34 Ala. Inf., Private/Private
335. Martin, J. K. P., Co. B, 42 Ala. Inf., Private/Private

It appears #270 and #335 are one and the same person, but I don’t know about #271 and #334 unless the same man served in three units or there were others probably named James Knox Polk Martin.
************************************
"MARTIN, Horace Walpole; Sgt., 4th Piece
2nd Alabama Battalion Light Artillery, Company F “Lumsden's Artillery Battery”"

Your Horace Walpole appears to be my #225.
225. Martin, Horace W., Co. F, 2 Batt’n, Ala. Lt. Art’y., Private/Private
**********************************
"MARTIN, J.K., Private
42nd Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co. B and possibly 2nd Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co. B
(Paroled at Vicksburg.)"

Strangely, I don’t have any J. K. MARTINs. Do you think J. K. might be one of the J. K. P. MARTINs above?

Thanks so much for your time and assistance with this project. I welcome any additional comments regarding the above.

Margaret
