Captain Martin is not included in this roll because it represents only those who joined the company when it entered Confederate service. This is true of many rolls posted on the internet. Here are my notes on this company and its captains:
Company “F” of Randolph County “Arbacoochee Rangers”
O. W. Shepard. Wounded at Shiloh, Tennessee, April 6, 1862. Dropped from the rolls on May 25, 1862.
Hurieosco Austill. Appointed Captain June 10, 1862; formerly 2nd Lieutenant of Company “E” of the 1st Alabama Artillery Battalion. Relieved [December 15, 1862]; returned to his original command. [DAB3:68; UA/61]
James B. Martin. Promoted Captain on May 14, 1863. Wounded near Atlanta, Georgia, August 3, 1864. Surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina, May 1, 1865, in command of consolidated Company “B”.
Organized at Arbacoochee, Alabama, this company enlisted at Notasulga, Alabama, October 6, 1861. Survivors surrendered with Company “B” of the consolidated 22nd Alabama Infantry Regiment.
Austill was one of General Bragg's appointments which violated military law and were later voided.
