You guys here have helped out a lot. I might have enough to at least give Baker a probable burial place in the family file as in Garnde Junction, TN at CSA Hospital.

I'm confused on the year still,, did we determine whether it was june 62 or 63 that Baker died?

Looking around online, and all the activity in that area, it appears that the Federals came in and started taking control of the towns, La Grange and Grand Junction, about June of 62. I also saw mention of a CSA mass grave in the hospital area of La Grange, a few miles from Grand Junction.

I think that there will be someone here that might come along and know something about all of that area and activity in the area.
If not I can always go over to the TN Forum and ask those boys. I'll let this sit here and marinate awhile though, I'll bet there will be more info come out. This board has really been a great help.

Another thought, if Baker died June 1862, it could have very well been the after effect, infections, gangrene, from wounds from Shiloh. Just surmising again.

And another thought, an observation of sorts,
My g-gf Stiring Stevens was wounded and captured at Gettysburg in Barksdales Charge.
After his capture, the info about grandpa, from his yankee cards at the archives, was ten times better than the vague info from his Confederate CSR.
He was interned on Davids Island NY POW hospital and his cards even went into detail about his clothing and what he was issued.
When he was traded back to the south about November 63, all info went back to being sparse at best.
