In 1982 I came across two letters on the death and burial of 1st Lt. McCallum of the 19th Texas Inf. co H. He died 11th Nov 1862 near Camp Nelson. I always thought both of these sites could be found. Over the years I would research some and move on, research and move on, but his death site and burial site was always in the back of my mind. Some posts on this message board in years pass have made reference to these letters. Two years ago I found his unmarked grave site and placed a Confederate Veteran's headstone at the site. I always knew I was within a mile of his death site. Well today (yesterday) I documented the house site he died at 11th Nov 1862. What a hunt, and with a little bit of luck and Ancestry.com it happened. I've read posts on these message boards of people looking for the same type of things. I know some times it seems impossible, but the next record you check may be the one that "blows it wide open" and man what satisfaction. My word to folks caught in a dead end search, don't give up take a break, let a little time pass and go at it from a different angle and checking these message boards can help tremendously.
