Re: Update- 1st Lt. Duncan A. McCallum

According to my research Matilda Jane Wood (1834-1912), Achsah Wood (1830-1904) and Martha Wood (1832-1870) were the daughters of Aaron Wood (1757-1834) and his 2nd wife Matilda Mayhew (1798-1876). Aaron Wood is my 4th Great Grandfather. He fought in the Revolutionary War at the Battle of Brier Creek. Aaron, Matilda and the three girls were all born in Pike County, SC.

Achsah Wood married Harvey Alexander Wallace (1829-1865). He was a Captian in the 5th South Carolina Infantry and 19th (or 18th) Texas Infantry, R. Waterhouse regiment. His brother, Thomas Stanhope Wallace (1821-1866) was married to Achsah's sister Martha. I'm just starting my research but believe Thomas was also in the Confederate Army.

I have very little information on Matilda Jane Wood so far, but believe she was married to Duncan Alexander McCollum (1832 York SC - 1862) I believe that he died in the Civil War but uncertain where. I also have some information that indicates that Ashsah Wood married Duncan McCallum POOVEY (1844-1921) in 1868 after Harvey Alexander Wallace died.

Prior to Aaron Wood's marriage to Matilda Jane Wood, he was married to Dorothea Moreland (1759-1823) (marriage 1809). They had several children - one was a daughter Candace Moreland Wood (1794-1878) who married General Francis White Bostick (1797 SC -1855 AL). They had a son Andrew Jackson Bostic (1838-1863) who died in the Battle at Gettysburg and is buried in Gettysburg PN.

Aaron and Dorothea also had a daughter Amelia Wood (1807-1867) who married John Greer (1805-?). They had a son, Algermon Sidney Greer (1837-1862) who was a Sergeant in the 19th (Dockery's) Arkansas Infantry Company H, and a son John Greer who was a Lieutenant in the same company.

I have spent many hours in research and have pretty good back-up documents. I'd really appreciate any additional information and will share my information as well.

Very kind regards,
Candyce
