As a scientist, I too understand the importance of solid research. I take that philosophy to my historical research as well. The first thing I look for in a CW book is how extensive unpublished primary resource materials were utilized. It never ceases to amaze me how often sources that are hackneyed, or outright wrong, continue to be perpetuated in the historical literature.
