I've gotten the "Columbus" book, but have not gotten a chance to read it yet. Look forward to it. There is a neat little account of Gen. A. Buford (CSA) and his escort (Gartrell's Georgians) crossing the covered bridge with the Yanks fighting them "tooth and nail." You can read it in my little article "Gartell's Georgian: Forrest's Teenaged Warriors" in "Georgia Backroads" magazine (Spring, 2009). Also, there is a bit about Columbus in the UDC reminiscences at the Rome/Floyd County library (Special Collections). The engineer who wrote it was named Molina (or Morino) and I think his sister married Stephen Mallory (CSA Sec. of the Navy). His memoir is not listed in the index, but its there. Also, a little about blocking the Apalachicola River in FL. Thanks for the info on Chattahoochee Arsenal. Zack Waters
