Pam:

The book is "Columbus, Georgia, 1865: The Last Battle of the Civil War" by Charles Misulia. Its published by my personal favorite academic press - the University of Alabama Press. The Moreno family were indeed FFF's (First Families of Florida) in pre-war era. (We went to a wedding in Destin recently, and much of the town is built on "Moreno Point.) Interesting you should mention Bagdad, FL. My aunt and uncle live in nearby Milton, and my article on the Fifteenth Confederate Cavalry originally stated that a skilled blacksmith in Bagdad made the unit's swords out of saw blades.

I know nothing about the Georgia arsenals, but suggest you contact Mr. Misulia or Dr. Keith Bohannon at the University of West Georgia. Keith knows more about CW Georgia than anyone I know.

Have a blessed day. Zack
