John Brewer was my great great grandfather and the father of William Snow Brewer 1836-1907. He married Elizabeth (Taylor). She was the daughter of Richard Taylor.
John and Elizabeth Brewer's chilren were: William Snow 1836-1907, Oliver Hazard Perry (OHP) 1829-1891, George Washington 1831-1868, Thomas Fox 1833-1870 or 76? , Richard T. , Nannie E., Eliza J.
Side note: Eliabeth (Taylor) Brewer's brother was Thomas Fox Taylor. Thomas Fox Taylor was a Lt Col in Stand watie's army. Killed in battle in 1862 near Fort Gibson.
Thomas Fox Brewer 1833-1876? is buried in the old Brewer-Boudinot cemetery 3 miles east of Braggs, Okla. The land was originally owned by John Brewer in 1840...then William Penn Boudinot and then a german named Dambach in 1869. The original Brewer plot is about 50 feet square with native stone wall enclosure about 4 ft high. The are 12 graves inside the enclosure. don't know who? Supposedly, close by, is the house foundation of the old Brewer place.
The home place I refered to...not really sure who's it was. Possibily Richard Taylor Brewers? His alollotment was close to the cemetery.
The Cherokee Heritage Center in tahlequah did extentsive reseach on old Cherokee families. They go back to before the removal. The Brewers, because of their involvement in the Cherokee government, was one of those famlies. You might contact them? 1-800-256-0671
