You can't be Southern Cherokee without being cousins! Third cousins as I figure it.

I don't see a connection between my Wests and Salli West though I guess there could be way back. From what I've read, Jacob West and Caleb Starr moved to the Cherokee Nation (East) and married Harlan sisters who were Cherokee. Jacob was executed by the Cherokee Nation in 1843 for the murder of Isaac Bushyhead at Saline Courthouse. Jacob's son John W. West married Ruth Fields. Their son Franklin Pierce married Nancy Brewer. Nancy Brewer-West-Cash is buried in the Briartown Cemetery. Frank is buried in Briartown in what was the West Cemetery but now known as the McClure Cemetery. My cousin Karen has Frank's pistol that he used in the shootout with Sam Starr near present Whitefield.
