Re: CO. A 5th Kentucky @ Perryville

Mr. O'Brien Compliments
There was the 5th KY Inf. and the 5th KY Inf.(MTD) PACS.
Correct the former fought at Perryville.
The later was in the Eastern part of the state and fought at Ivy Mountain and Middle Creek and got pushed outa the state thru pound gap.
MY Gr.GR. Grand father whom looked on the battle field of Perryville for both his sons after the battle, not knowing one was not there anyhow.
Found neither as one was not there and the Union boy 5th KY (Union)(mustered in at Cincinnati, Henry Barker) had deserted after being under fire (according to records owing $18.30 for supplies furnished)
Gr. Gr. Dads last name was Mayes as in the road that runs along the field of battle,(Hayes/Mayes) and his wifes last name Begley,
as the name of the creek that runs on the south side of the field.
Anywho, John the Reb. brother came back into KY with Pegram and got his butt paddled at "Dutton's Hill" KY (Near Somerset).
Quit that outfit and joined Clukes Reg. of Morgans out fit.

I will now quit babblling.
