Thanks George, but not our Talbots. Benjamin had a son named after him but he was too young to serve, born 1852. Plus best I can tell all of Benjamin's younger children were born in Washington or St. Francis County. Ben's oldest son did service, I have seen a picture of him in uniform but have not idenified his unit yet either. His name was James Carter Talbot, b.1833, probably in ILL prior to Ben moving his young family to Missouri. I expected to find Benjamin in whatever command his brother-in-law Lucien N. Farris was in but that has not proven out. Your last reference to the burning of the mill sounds like something our Ben would be involved with but I will have to look into that further.

Lucien Farris and Henderson Chitwood are mentioned in the OR as recruiting at the forks of Logan Creek, near the Reynolds County/Wayne County line, when attacked and scattered by the Union forces. In reference to that event a local historian in the 1930's identified Farris as "Tolbert" and didn't mention Chitwood at all, however he mentioned Chitwood's brother-in-law Pate Buford. That is what gave me the idea Ben "Talbot" might have been operating with the 12th, 15th or Clardy's. But so far no luck.
