There's one listing on the Missouri SOS Soldiers site for Edward J. Smarr of Plattsburg. It just says he mad a penion application. Pension applications often contain a great deal of information. They have the applications on microfilm at the St. Louis County Library Main Branch and at the Greene County Library in Springfield, MO.

I also found a single card on Footnote in the Confederate Soldier Service Records - Miscellaneous (not by state) showing Edward Smarr, Rebel Soldier, appears on a roll of prisoners received and confined at Military Prison, St. Joseph, MO by the District Provost Marshall during the month on September 1864. It only states that he was captured Sept 10, 1864.
