Thanks so much for a prompt reply. Yes, the place was Glaze, MO in the Ozarks. I think Gordon's men were involved in some sort of action with the Federal cavalry there - perhaps the 4th MO . I think the date was May 29th, 1863. The letter is unclear, actually intended to be obscure, I believe.
I would like to try to decipher the letter you mention. Do you know where I can get a copy?
