Jeff Nash --- In my new book ALSO FOR GLORY- The Pettigrew - Trimble Charge at Gettysburg I have reproduced the July 1 and July 3 musters of all 23 regiments in that assault. I have Thomas Neal listed this way......

55th NC Co I "Franklin Farmers"

Private Thomas Harold Neal 30 yr old mason enlisted Granville Co 10/17/62 W 7/3 C 7/5

It is my view that his wounds from July 3 were so severe that he was NOT taken on the Imboden "wounded train" and was captured by Union forces. As you know he was taken to Ft Delaware around July 9 and died there October 8, 1863.

I will be speaking on my new book in Raleigh NC on Monday Februray 23rd at the RCWRT. Don Ernsberger - ernscave@aol.com
