Well,Chase -it may be that I identify a little to Texas, since it was there the immigration from us to the US began in great numbers. http://clifton.centraltx.com/

But, we have been on the American continent for a long time - about 600 years before Columbus "got there".

In the CW War we contributed with approx.7.000 soldiers - 97% Union/3% Confederate. 1,2% of the Union Navy (US Navy) was Norwegian. You`ll find Norwegians in most of the regiments from MN and WI. The largest and most famed was the 15th WI Infantry (90% Norwegian).

On the Confederate side - the regiment with most Norwegians was the 46th TX Cav. You`ll find Norwegians in TX and LA -units on the Confederate side.

The most famed Norwegian during the CW War was a sailor - he piloted the USS Monitor during the battle of Hampton Roads with CSS Virginia. He got the Medal of Honor for his actions during the battle.

When it comes to WWII we were on the Allied side -and had endure 5 years of occupation. Our King and Queen (our Queen at the time was also Princess of England) did in fact live in the White House during the War.

There are by the way only two US Presidents that have a statue here in Norway - Lincoln and FDR.
