Now I agree that Forrest knew about fighting. He was also so right about war. I think a lot of leaders on both sides had this idealistic view of war. My opinion, more so the South than the North. The Waverly novels by Scott were a big read in that part of the country. I honestly feel that at that time folks from the South were more likely to take their affairs into their own hands than men from the North, of course I could be wrong. Just my view. I know one can find examples on both sides of impetuous fellows...lol
