I read all of this thread. Sir with all due respect I completely disagree with you on these points.

You can call the Mississippi rangers outlaws or anything you want and blame anything you want on them, it does not change the fact that Shermans men were regular US Army. It does not change the fact that he made total war on women and children black and white. A military campaign? Come on even you don't believe that. If you do then the CSA units were just doing their duty andcarring out military campaigns to reach their objective.

Now I read your complaint about Stephen's & Natty's remarks about Lincoln. What do you think we should do raise Lincoln to an even greater heights? Lincoln wanted a war he got a his war and the end result is he is responsible for more American deaths than any other person in history. That is a historical fact. He trampled all over the constitution and approved of the complete destruction of the South. Why should we not celebrate his death? This man caused a graet deal of grief in both the north and South.

Sir I have to ask this are you speaking simply as a career military man?
