This is about all I know. One of my ancestors served in Co. B, 50th TN and his record states, "deserted Graves Port, MS Dec. 20th (or 29th) 1862". Could this be part of that mass desertion? I never heard of it before now.
Someone wrote that this place was in north central MS. The Battle of Chickasaw Bayou was down below Vicksburg and it took place on or about December 29, 1862. Some of the 50th participated in that battle.
