Not sure if this is of interest, but a number of Tennessee regiments, those in the 60's designation-wise, some of whom came from eastern Tennessee, were quite reluctant, it seems, to be part of the Confederate Army.
They were such poor soldiers in fact (at least in terms of motivation), that when assaultd behind earthworks at Big Black River in the Vicksburg Campaign, well, let's say they made the French of 1940 look valiant by comparison!
I forget offhand if these were draftees or not - Alan probably knows - but these were units raised in 1862 or even later. Where they came from has something to do with it I am sure.
