Re: Attention Jerry Coffee, re: Wyatt, 10th Texas

Hello. Well, I still bet he is out at Camp Nelson.
Did you read the site I sent you about Camp Nelson?
Camp Nelson was in Pulaski County at the time.
The county lines were redrawn in 1871 and 73.
From Little Rock to the cemetery is less than 20 miles.
That is as far as I know the only real Confederate cemetery in the area.
They were buried by their own who were sick and dying themselves.
As far as the 10th being wiped out, I do understand.
My realitive was with the 8th Arkansas.
I have connected with maybe 5 people whose ancestors had been with the 8th Arkansas.
I have heard estimates that as few as 100 of those men came back, but I do not believe it was even a handful.
As my ancestor was the one in charge of the powder, etc for the cannons-I think I am telling you the truth, I would imagine it helped him survive.
The 8th Arkansas went east early and just never came back.
My great great great grandfather's brother-in-law who was with the 36th Arkansas CSA and captured at Helena was still alive in Virginia when the war ended, but never came home. I would believe he died in one of those hospitals set up after the war to take care of such men. He had been in one of those big Yankee Prisons.
Were you able to obtain any info from the man's great grandchild?
Please let me know if you find any real clues.
Thanks-
