Hi Jerry, It's entirely possible that our ancestors knew each other. My gr-gr-grandfather, Richard Somerville Lyles, joined the Anderson Whetsones, Van Zandt Co., Warriors, 1861. Later became 10 Texas Cav.(Co H). He was killed near Mobile, AL on March 31, 1865.

We haven't been able to locate his grave, either.
