Re: a reply to Jim about the Missouri CSA soldier

Hello. His name was Perciful. Let me confirm his first name, make sure I have the spelling right ( I have seen that last name spelled three different ways) and the correct group. He left a widow and two little children just like a lot of the other young men that were lost in that war. No one knew where he had fallen though a brief description had been provided to the family. That was how my friend and I figured it out.
He fell in battle just outside/on the edge of what is now Jacksonville on the Old Military Road.
Get your map out and look to see where the Old Military Road runs. (I travel down it several times a month.)
If I remember correctly, I was told he was simply covered over in the ditch area he was in when killed.
His is the most different photo to me as you can see those eyes looking across time at you as if he has something to say.
The great great grandchild- a lady- is still alive up in Michigan. I have written her within the last two years, so I may still have a valid
e-mail for her.
I will be back in touch though it may be a day or so.
Glad to know someone is interested and keeping records.
Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you.
Linda
