Thanks for the tips.While Im not a pro reseracher by no means and I"ve just recently started looking at the civil war info,I have tried lots of angles in the last 7 years.
How do I know for sure this is my James Roberts?
I dont know for sure but I believe it could be.
James did have a brother named Andrew Jackson Roberts whose birth date matches. Seems I found the wife of AJ to match this one also.I just figured it was good possibilty that the two ended up joining at the same time and being placed in Company H.
I have researched quite a few people and this James Roberts is a very hard one to find anything on,believe me.
As for Galpins I did find one Galpin site that mentioned my Eliza.All it said was that she was a daughter of John and Rebecca (?) Galpin and she married a Mr Roberts and was buried in Manchester,Tx.I dont know how they came up with Manchester.Its very likely but I cant find any death records on her. She was alive in 1900 thats the last I could find.She is living with my G Grandfathers family.
This would be John Roberts.
There is no land information either that I can find.
Im really at a stand still unless I can run across something that says this James is the husband of Eliza A. Galpin Roberts. I havent really tried Robertson or the other surnames much.Maybe I should.
A.J. Roberts was living in Grayson Co. but I do not find any James or Eliza.I know they came to Texas around 1860 but which County?I read my John Roberts 1934 obit and it says his parents moved from Mo to Oklahoma when he was 2 but only stayed one year before moving on to Red River County. ISo far I havent found John or his mother in Red River before 1880.
