I think that you missed my point.

The Confederate law, passed in Feb. 1865, was modeled on State laws (of the various States). I may be mistaken, but I think that *Alabama* had a law that *mandated* service in the Jr. Reserves at age 17 (allowing for many exemptions). If time allows, I will check that law today in my offices' law library.
