Good advice. Lockhart's Battalion was increased to a regiment and its designation changed to the 1st Alabama Reserve Regiment. This command was never under control of the governor since it wasn't militia. The battalion was organized on February 10, 1864, prior to the law which created junior reserves. I do recall seeing a number of members younger than 17 enrolled.
