Re: Lockhart;'s Battalion!
In Response To: Lockhart;'s Battalion! ()

This comment from the Confederate Alabama Reader was about Confederate units at Chehaw. It was inserted inside the text of Rousseau's account and is as follows:

"This force consisted of University of Alabama cadets, HC Lockhart's battalion of militia or exempts, and the conscripts from Camp Watts, two miles from Notasulga. The Cadets (who visited Auburn after the battle), and militia had come out on a special train from Montgomery. The Confederate force numbered about 500. Another special train left Montgomery bringing the "city companies of militia, but did not get to Chehaw Station or Beasley's tank until after the battle. See Montgomery Daily Mail, July 24, 1864."

I will incorporate all the other additional good points about Lockhart's battalion into my article. Thank you for the help.
