Thanks for this post! Are you familiar with the Alabama State law that Hayes mentioned that Conscripted 17 year olds (before the CS Law)? If so, when was it passed and put into affect? Were any organizations made up entirely of conscripts allowed to elect officers? (I can't imagine this)
I was under the impression that most Confedrate conscripts were sent as replacements individually to existing regiments (at least after a period of training at camp). Is this so?
