I don't have much more that I can add. I have that Leonidas A.’s highest attained rank was 5th Sgt. He died of typhoid pneumonia 2/9/1863, Shelbyville, Bedford Co., Tenn. after an illness of ten days. Buried in Shelbyville.

I have that Hollis Tresvant died 3/17/1905 in Tuscaloosa.

I have several Horton’s in Pickens County units, and other Horton’s of Pickens County who served in units from elsewhere, but none that could be Alonzo or W.C. (unless W.C. had two middle names).

Can you provide more information on these Buntin’s of Company D of the 2nd/42nd Ala. Inf.?

BUNTIN, James Wright (Born 3/13/43 in Pickens Co. near Vienna. Traveled to the war with a personal servant. Paroled at Vicksburg. Died 6/11/1922. Buried at the Old Bethany Cemetery in Pickens Co.)

BUNTIN, Thomas C. (Traveled to the war with a personal servant. Paroled at Vicksburg. Died after 1886. Buried in Old Bethany Cemetery, Vienna, Pickens Co.)

BUNTIN, William Pearson (Resided south of Bridgeville [1 mile south of present day Aliceville]. Traveled to the war with a personal servant. Paroled at Vicksburg. Severely injured at Resaca, and reported to family as dead. Was captured and held in prison. Escaped from prison, and returned home to a very surprised family. Also served with the 8th Confederate Cavalry.)

I had this note with William Pearson Buntin’s entry, which I made myself but cannot make sense of now: [Is this possibly William Pearson Buntin’s brother, Wiley Buntin?] Maybe I was thinking that the source had the wrong Buntin listed for the 2nd/42nd, since William Pearson also is found in the 8th Conf.
