James, that reference came from the online index to the Provost Marshall files at MO state archives. The archives are kept though the office of the MO Sec. of State. I may be mistaken but I believe this is the same George Hoyt. Unless there were two George Hoyts working as detectives for the Provost Marshalls office at the same time. But, on the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong either.

Would you mind contacting me directly as I have a couple of questions concerning the 7th Kansas Cav. that might be in line with your research.
