The reality is that we have ancestors who lost everything trying to make what they saw as a change for the better for their lives and families. The reality is that they did not succeed. The reality is everything was changed anyway. The reality is that it was a major point in United States history and needs to be taught to students in a correct manner. Neither side was blameless. Neither side was all wrong. The reality is that we are NOT still fighting the war. We are trying to prove that our ancestors deserve the same respect as anyone elses. We also have to fight to keep any mention of our heritage from being trashed every day. To us, showing our ancestors disrespect is akin to being the one who "spit on Supermans cape". Just not done.
