The references I found, to a degree, have supporting references that have been disputed, and now are brought back into the light. The capture of Murfreesboro story was the attack by men under N.B. Forrest, here is an another account of Blacks serving under him. The Baton Rouge company could be the “corps of black” complained about in a letter from a Union Colonel at the Battle of Baton Rouge.
These were easy enough to find. My complaint the history community too easily rolls over and accepts the word of lazy academics that have to promote an agenda to keep their grants coming. The information is out there, it only takes the will to find it.
