Twelve years ago I called Gordon Cotton seeking information on my ggranduncle who died at Vicksburg but was not recorded in the list of those buried in Confederate Rest, Vicksburg City Cemetery.

Twas timely, as his assistant Jeff Giambrone had just found a list of some 77 East Tennessee soldiers buried in the cemetery but not on the list previously known.
My uncle was one of them.

Working with those two and a lady of the Tennessee UDC, we procured and placed tombstones for them in two very hot and sticky July 1998 days!!

Gordon also procured three other stones for other men of the 43rd Tennessee and placed them in a church cemetery south of the city where we believed they might have been at death.

These folks and those at the Miliatary Battlefield Park have been very helpful over the years.
