I was specifically speaking of the Federal Cavalry that occupied Jefferson County, the 5th Knasas Cavalry and the 1st Indiana Cavalry to be specific, That you mentioned even that historically the 5th Kansas Cavalry was Known as a ROGUE unit. Which were commanded by a specific commander, Col Powell Clayton, who was by all accounts was one of those commanders who failed to control his troops.
How is that painting with a broad brush?
John simply took the statement as a broad brush statement, because that is the way he wanted to read it. Probably because of his bias against slavery as he stated that southern people were not nice because of slavery. In Arkansas 20% of the people were slaves and a far less percentage were actually slave owners. But that made ALL southerners in Arkansas bad and deserving of what treatment they got, I guess, especially if they were defended their homes.
