Might I suggest that we disengage. I tend to agree with the position that for this site, at least, we need citations and sources for a valid historical discussion. I believe family stories are important, but they need to be mixed with documentation. Within my own family, we have a number of stories and views that have proven to be inaccurate or heavily embellished. Even today, when confronted with "evidence", some of my family choose to perpetuate the family stories.
