Not sure this is the place to respond and it's just a family story... In Franklin county, near Fern Ark is the story of Adrian Hayes. He came back to find out about his family, wife was Deliah Fugate Hayes and children. He found they had left their home and hiding in a cave due to federal causes. He found them and was in the process of going to their homesite for supplies when found by federal soldiers. The family story: they made him undress and march back and forth in a creek, it was wintertime, so very cold. When he could not march back and forth any longer, he was shot and left dead in the creek. Is this a true story? His descendants think it is, were the federals cruel or were they just doing their job?
